Mud Fest

The Boryeong Mud Festival is a huge festival that attracts tons of foreigners and Koreans alike.  It lasts 2 weekends; the group of teachers at my school went the 1st weekend, but I already had tickets to see Wicked, so I went with the other group on the 2nd weekend.  We had WAY better weather, with nothing but sunshine!  We played in the mud, went on the slides, painted ourselves up with colorful mud, and played frisbee, swam, banana boated, and sunbathed on the beach the rest of the time.  Some famous rapper named Acon was there Saturday night, but I didn't know who he was... only that he was famous and all the Canadians and northerners were really excited about him.  The fireworks for his concert were unbelievable though!  I want works like those in the US!

It's been a good, muddy summer, what with the Brighton field trip to the mudflats and then this: a glorious weekend of mud and surf and sun! The mud is supposed to be very good for your skin, which is a bonus on top of how much fun it was to play in.  If you're ever in Korea in July, make sure you get out to Boryeong!  It was a weekend for the record books.
